Oklahoma City Home and Garden Show
Their motto is “Bring Fresh Ideas Home”, and that’s just what they’re doing at this 5 building, 200,000 square feet home and garden show. Throughout a 3 day run, visitors of the show can watch seminars, visit with a variety of exhibitors, and walk through the product showcase where they can learn of the latest and greatest products and services available. If they are looking for specific garden items, like >Oklahoma City flowers, goers can shop the plant sale, garden market or new marketplace.
One of the larger attractions at this show is the celebrity guest speakers that are present every year. 2010 offered visitors a chance to meet and become educated by Summer Baltzer, a designer on HGTV’s “Design on a Dime”. 2011 appreciated HGTV’s John Gidding of “Curb Appeal” and “The Block” participating in the show and 2012 looks forward to welcoming Mark Brunetz of the Style Network’s “Clean House”.
Over 30 years of run time have helped this show grow into a space for people to come and learn how to improve their homes and gardens. But it has also grown into a way for people to give back to their community. A variety of stylized doors will be silently auctioned off to benefit Central Oklahoma’s Habitat for Humanity and a separate silent auction of celebrity decorated dog bowls will be held to raise money for the Central Oklahoma Humane Society.

This show is accredited by the American Hemerocallis Society (AHS), and utilizes its rules and judging criteria to run the competition. The daylily flower show is free for anyone to participate and holds 4 divisions for entry: Horticulture-On Scape, Horticulture-Off Scape, Educational, and Design. The design division is the only one that is not AHS accredited.
In this competition a variety of standard awards are given out, including first, second, and third place ribbons. However, this competition also names someone the Best in Show and the Best of Section winner as well. The COHS has an additional special award that is not AHS accredited, called the Howard Memorial Award, which is given out for the best large flower of the competition.
In addition to the show, there will be a few vendors set up with some plants and garden accessories for sale. The most common item to be sold at this show will be potted daylilies.
