Honeybees are pretty amazing and it turns out these social little creatures would join you for that morning latte if they could. (You would have to pick up the tab. Honey isn’t a recognized currency.)
A recent study published in the journal Science, finds that caffeine in citrus plants helps boost the memory of bees. Much like coffee plant flowers, the flower nectar of citrus fruits like grapefruit, lemons and orange contain caffeine. The study shows the caffeine in these fruits not only gives bees a buzz similar to the one we get from the popular stimulant – but it also provides better memory function. That’s un-bee-lievable!
Lucky bees. Hopefully, scientists will find the formula for improving our…um…wait, what was I talking about? Oh, that’s right, memory.
