Rhode Island Spring Flower & Garden Show
Mostly known for its rich history and state size, Rhode Island is a state with beautiful greenery and an abundance of nature. Put on by the Rhode Island Horticultural Society (RIHS), Providence is home to New England’s premier flower show. This event accommodates an average of 30,000 attendees and over 250 garden marketplace vendors and garden displays.
Here, people who attend the show can see demonstrations on topics like container planting, cooking, and vegetable propagation. They can also listen to lectures on low maintenance gardening, growing houseplants, cooking healthily, and the best plants and flowers for Providence gardens. An abundance of children’s activities are available to keep your little ones occupied as well. Not only can they play games and get their face painted, but kids also have the opportunity to learn about bugs in a fun way and watch a musical performance about Mother Nature.
A preview party is always held the night before the actual grand opening of the show. Top chefs from Rhode Island come together and prepare exquisite cuisine for attendees to eat as they wander around the show before it opens to the public. Proceeds go to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to help them purchase and distribute food to more than 55,000 people.
Proceeds from the public show will assist the RIHS in activities like educating the community about agriculture in the area, hold gardening events, and be the gardening and horticulture hub in Rhode Island for amateurs, professionals, retail garden owners, farmers and more to reach out to whenever they need information, resources, etc.
Special accommodations packages are available for whoever needs them. A selection of hotels and restaurants have opted to provide special rates and dining specials for those traveling to the show. See website for more details.
